What is good service? In the hospitality industry, service is an art especially in the restaurant and hotel business, at least when done right.

The difference between a world-class dining or lodging experience and a merely good one can often boil down to the tiniest details. But when you’ve been perfectly pampered as a diner or lodger, you’ll know it.

Any great restaurant or hotel is more than the food it serves or the bed it provides. It has to have a good front-of- house too. Restaurant patrons are usually forgiving when the food is mediocre and the service is outstanding. One of the things I’m appalled by in Lagos is the crappy service people seem to accept when dining out. In Lagos one ends up paying so much money in my books, to have mediocre food as well as crappy service.

Enough is enough! It’s time to change the game. Times are changing especially in the hospitality industry in Nigeria and the service needs to change along with it. I believe for these changes to take place, people need to start voicing their experiences. Critique those who need to be critiqued and praise those establishments that are doing what they should be doing.
